Malmö, Schweden, 11. bis 13. März 2013
Welcome to BUFF 2013! This year is BUFF's 30th anniversary. We celebrate with an extensive program and one more day with the best of new children and youth films from all over the world. The festival week is March 11th to 16th.
BUFF is an amazing film festival as it has something for everyone! Some have their very first cinematic experience, some screen their first feature film to an audience of critical children and some are even inspired to tell their own stories through film. Since 1984, BUFF Film Festival has been the most important forum for film for children and youths in the Nordics. In more recent years, BUFF is also attracting a growing number of professionals who work in the industry. To encourage the production of films for a young audience is very important as it is culture aimed at children. Films for children and youths are often produced on a limited budget and generally do not get much attention in the media. As such, BUFF wants to be a forum that highlights questions and facilitates discussion around access to film and the need to find a sustainable way of producing great film for children and young people. In 1992 BUFF was awarded a Guldbagge for its enthusiastic work in promoting good film for children and young people. BUFF aims to reach out to its young visitors with films from all over the world that help them see things in a broader perspective. Another of BUFF’s drivers is to teach young people about the influence of film in society. Films that that touch, engage and make the viewer ask questions are 100% BUFF.
Apart from screening around 100 films during the six days of the festival, BUFF also arranges seminars and discussions for teachers, filmmakers and cultural workers aiming to inspire the children and youth film industry.
The programme for the festival includes:
- International competition programme showing eight feature films
- Short film competition programme showing approximately ten films with maximum running time of 15 minutes
- Panorama programme showing features, shorts, animations and documentaries.
